Del. Bayshore gets $1M from feds for conservation
One million dollars from the federal government will go towards protecting the Delaware Bayshore.
The money from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be used with matching funds from the state's Open Space program to acquire property along the Bayshore in Kent County.
The land acquisition will fill a gap in a network of more than 4-thousand acres of protected wetlands and uploads in the St. Jones River watershed.
The additional protected space will be used for hunting, fishing, birding, and other nature activity.
