AAA: Memorial Day travel by land, air down this year
A couple hundred thousand people across the country don't plan to hit the road this Memorial Day weekend as they did last year.
AAA predicts 34.8 million people will travel 50 or more miles from home between Thursday and Monday.
That's down from 35.1 million in 2012.
Of those people, nine out of ten will travel by car, air travel will be down eight percent and the average Memorial Day weekend trek will be just under 700 miles.
