Thousands without power in Del. after storms
Heavy thunderstorms moving through the Mid-Atlantic region have knocked down trees and power lines across the Delmarva peninsula.
Delmarva Power reported about 16,000 customers in Delaware and on Maryland's Eastern Shore without power Thursday afternoon, with more than 10,000 in Delaware. Downed trees and power lines blocked more than a dozen roads in Delaware.
Colonial School District dismissed staff early Thursday because of the storm.
In Wilmington, officials urged about 800 residents who live in low-lying areas that flooding was possible.
