Firefighters battle blaze at three-story building in Wilmington

Around 60 firefighters help extinguish a Monday afternoon blaze at a three-story building in Wilmington.

The city's fire department arrived at 2132 N. Market Street around 1:41 p.m. and discovered heavy smoke coming from a corner building that had apartments on the upper floors.

The fire took about 40 minutes to get under control and firefighters from neighboring departments were called in to help put the fire out.

The building sustained fire damage to the second and third floors, water damage to the first floor and is now being evaluated by the Department of Licenses and Inspections.

Four families who were living in the apartments are being housed by the Red Cross.
