Task force to study safety along Route 1 to stop pedestrian accidents
A busy summer season and a spike in pedestrian accidents at the Delaware beaches has the Speaker of the House calling for added safety.
The Route 1 Corridor Task Force, chaired by Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf, will meet next week at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
The task force, composed of lawmakers, police officers, and the public, will consider various engineering and infrastructure changes along Route 1 from Lewes to Dewey that will decrease pedestrian accidents.
Their final report is due at the beginning of next year.
