Cops make heroin bust at Wilmington Courtyard Marriott

City police make a heroin bust in a downtown hotel.

Wilmington police were called to the Courtyard Marriott in the 1100 block of North West Street for a complaint about drugs. They found multiple bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia in a fourth-floor room in plain view.

Officers also saw a small child in the room. The child was turned over to a relative.

Oscar Alvarez of Harbeson and Pedro Mercado of Camden, N.J., are in Howard Young Prison. Irish Diaz-Samchex is in Baylor Women's Correctional Institution. Two teenage girls who were also in the room are in the county detention center.
