Frontier drops service from Wilm. to Houston
It's only been flying out of New Castle Airport since July 1st, and Frontier has already dropped one of its destinations.
WDEL's Amy Cherry has the story.
Stefanie Spatola of Newark booked her round trip flight to Houston back in July when Frontier service first started.
"I got a great deal. $92 roundtrip," she says.
She was excited for her upcoming October getaway until she got an email Monday.
"Saying that their schedule had changed, and that I need to call them," she says.
When she called, she was put on hold for 15 minutes only to find out Frontier had discontinued service to Houston. The e-mail made no mention of it, and and a representative on Frontier's Facebook page tells me it's due to lack of bookings.
Spatola wasn't offered a refund until she asked.
"And I also had to ask are there alternative ways to get to Houston using Frontier? And they didn't even offer any of those solutions. It was just, 'You can have a refund,' and that was it," she said.
With her trip less than 60 days away, she's at the mercy of high airfares.
"Now I need to look at alternative options, which include flying from Philadelphia to Houston, and it was about four times the amount of money then it would have been on Frontier, so I'm not sure I'll be going," she says.
But she jokes...
"I can always drive, right?" she laughs.
Service between Wilmington and Houston will be discontinued effective Oct. 2.
Frontier continues to fly non-stop from Wilmington to Chicago-Midway, Denver, Tampa, Orlando, and Fort Meyers, Florida.
