VIDEO: Hodgson's balance too much for Mount Pleasant
Hodgson Vo-Tech displayed a balanced football team Friday as their first team defense allowed just three points while their offense scored six touchdowns in a 40-10 victory over Mt. Pleasant.
It took Hodgson just under six minutes to score their first touchdown as running back Daniel Diggs would rush for a long touchdown, the first of two on the day. The 2-point conversion would be no good as the Silver Eagles took the lead 6-0. The Green Knights would answer with a field goal after a fumble recovery put them into great field position and the score would stand 6-3 going into the second quarter.
Hodgson stole the momentum away at 8:26 in the second quarter when special teams returner Casey Lee would fumble on a punt but then scoop up the loose ball and return it to the house for the score putting Hodgson up 14-3 after the good 2-point conversion. Hodgson would rush for five touchdown on the ground Friday with two each in the second and third quarters and the score would stand 40-3 going into the final period.
Mt. Pleasant finally got things going on offense in the fourth when running back Jahleel Thomas would rush for a long rushing touchdown, after the extra point the score would be 40-10. However, with just 2:28 left in the game the Silver Eagles would just about run the clock out on their next possession and go on the to 40-10 victory.
