Man arrested for DUI after hitting cop car and fleeing

A Newark man is arrested for DUI after rear-ending a cop car and taking off.

Newark police say two plain-clothes officers were sitting at a red light Thursday night around 9 p.m. in an undercover vehicle on North Chapel Street at East Cleveland Avenue when 23-year-old Michael Hudson hit them from behind. Hudson then backed up and took off on the wrong way on East Cleveland Avenue. The officers chased him until he was stopped by other officers in the Oaklands neighborhood.

Hudson has been arrested on DUI and other charges. He wasn't hurt in the crash, but the officers were treated and released for minor injuries.
