VIDEO: UD's Brock says Delaware its a good time for a bye
Delaware has a week to savor its win last Saturday over Albany...and to figure out why it took so long to beat the Great Danes.
The Blue Hens trailed 30-22 with a little more than three minutes remaining, but rallied with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, a defensive stop and a 42 yard field goal by Sean Baner on the final play of the game.
Coach Dave Brock says the team executed well in the final three minutes...but the first 57 minutes were "maddening" before the team got down to business to pull out the victory.
Brock emphasized the inconsistency of his team, but said they still have a mathematical chance to finish 10-2...and they will work on the things that will get them there over this next week, when they'll emphasize the fundamentals...things like blocking and tackling.
Delaware is off this Saturday and travels to Rhode Island on October 26th.
Brock said quarterback Trent Hurley has had a very good season so far, noting he is one of the national leaders in passing efficiency...but also noting he has to cut down on the bad plays he makes.
He said he is somewhat satisfied with the season so far, noting the two losses where they weren't competitive. But he says its all about the players executing throughout the game. And he says if they do so, they'll be a playoff team, which is one of their goals.
Brock says this week the Blue Hens will work on Delaware football...next week they'll focus on getting ready for Rhode Island.
