Fringe Festival starts in Wilmington Thursday

A festival in Wilmington this week invites you to go beyond the edge and into the fringe to enjoy some off-kilter entertainment.

WDEL's Tom Lehman reports...

The four-day Wilmington Fringe Festival features everything from thought-provoking visual art and films to live music and improv.

"There's something for everyone and there's something everyone can experience for the first time," said Jeni Barton, Arts Programming Manager with the City of Wilmington's Cultural Affairs Department.

Barton says a couple cult films will be screened at the festival, but audiences can watch movies made by area talent too.

"Most of the films that we're showing as part of the festival are made by local filmmakers, so these are not your big theater movies," she says.

The festival also features a Halloween Costume Ball at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts on Thursday, October 31 starting at 9 p.m.

You can get more information on the event and its entertainment lineup at the festival's website.
