VIDEO: Concord cruises to its last regular season victory
Going into Friday night's game, the Concord Raiders' football team knew if they had any chance of making the state tournament, they would have to win its last regular season game against the Newark Yellowjackets.
Concord didn't just win, they dominated on offense and defense in all four quarters to pick up the 41-6 victory.
In the opening quarter, Concord's Zachary Zupan recovered a Newark fumble to set up a Matthew Mellette touchdown with a little more than five minutes remaining in the quarter.
Defensive end Thomas Camper extended the Concord lead 13-0, after he picked off a Benjamin Campbell pass and took it all the way to the endzone for the Raiders.
The Raiders scored two more touchdowns in the second, an Elijah Davis 36 yard reception from Austin Coughenour and a Mark Mellette rushing touchdown, to extend the lead 27-0 at the half.
Newark put its only score on the board in third with an Eric Wright rushing touchdown from Newark's own 37 yard line. Matthew Mellette answered, when he carried for a four yard touchdown with four minutes left in the quarter.
In the final quarter, Camper intercepted his second pass to set up a Brian Dennis touchdown.
