Wilmington gunfight leaves two women hurt in West Center City

Two women were shot in Wilmington after a gunfight erupted on a city street Monday night, police said.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on the 600 block of W. 6th St. in West Center City.

Two women were sitting on the porch of a home when police said two people began shooting at each other.

One of the victims, a 49-year-old city resident, was shot in the buttocks, while the other woman, a 29-year-old who is also from Wilmington, was struck in the thigh.

Both women were taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition, police said.

One of the suspects was described to police as a man who was wearing a gray hoodie and fled the scene in a silver two-door sedan.
