VIDEO: UD Provost: Committee to look at school's future

The University of Delaware's Provost told the school's board of trustees on Tuesday that a committee will be formed to examine ways the school can improve upon its strategic plan, the five-year-old "Path to Prominence."

WDEL's Tom Lehman reports...

Provost Domenico Grasso said the committee will be formed next year and will take an across-the-board look at the school's academics.

"The question is, how are we going to help inform the debates that our nation and our society are engaged and how are we going to be very strong citizens of the nation and the world as they go out and engage in those debates," Grasso says.

Although UD is nationally-recognized in fields like engineering, physical therapy and art conservation, he says the committee could help determine how to further cultivate those programs.

"We want to look at not just those programs but how we can organize ourselves to deal with the grand challenges and great debates that are going to define the future of the nation and the world," he says.
