Ex-St. Mark's teacher sued for alleged abuse A Delaware woman is suing the Diocese of Wilmington, Saint Mark's High School and a priest who formerly taught there, claiming she was abused when she was a student. WDEL's Frank Gerace reports.Audio Here The suit filed Thursday in Superior Court says Father Charles Wiggins abused the plaintiff, referred to as Jane Doe, beginning in 1986, and the Diocese and then-Saint Mark's principal Ron Russo didn't report the crimes. The suit says also claims after Doe reported Wiggins, the Diocese and Russo told her and her parents Wiggins wouldn't be allowed to work with children again, but Wiggins continued to work with kids until a lay review board found Doe's charges credible and Wiggins was removed from ministry six years ago. While not commenting on the lawsuit, a Diocesan spokesman Thursday confirmed to the Associated Press Wiggins was among several priests with substantiated sex abuse charges against them. Victims have until July 9th to file suit against abusers under Delaware's Child Victims Act, passed by the General Assembly 2 years ago.
