A poll released Thursday shows ex-Lieutenant Governor John Carney with an 11-point lead over Glen Urquhart in the race for Delaware's US House seat.

The Public Policy Polling survey has Democrat Carney leading Republican Urquhart 48 to 37 percent among likely voters.

Urquhart's picked up 7 points since PPP's last poll, which had Carney leading the Tea Party-backed Rehoboth Beach real estate developer 48 to 30 percent.

Urquhart leads among independents 38 to 36 percent, and 26 percent of independents say they're undecided.

Carney and Urquhart are vying for the seat currently held by 9-term Republican Mike Castle, who lost the US Senate primary to Tea Party favorite Christine O'Donnell.

PPP surveyed 958 likely Delaware voters for its poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 point 2 percent.
