Delaware Education officials say that, as federal standards rise, the state's school ratings have dropped.

Delaware has 20% fewer schools rated "superior" in the ratings that were released Friday. There are also only half as many "commendable" schools as last year.

Meantime, the number of schools under "academic review" was up.

State Education Secretary Lillian Lowery says Delaware has to take big, giant steps toward radically improving the education system.
