Suspect charged in fatal shooting
By Frank Gerace Share

Wilmington police have charged a Newark man in connection with a fatal shooting in the city earlier this month.

Police say Eric Howell gunned down Darrell Swain during a robbery at 3rd and Broom Streets early on the morning of February 4th.

Howell was caught in the act by a city detective who ordered him to drop his gun, but instead, Howell fired at the officer, hitting Swain in the process.

Howell was arrested Monday night at Christiana Hospital, where he's recovering from wounds he suffered in the gun battle.
