Deck collapse mars birthday party
A birthday party in Newark goes south as a deck collapses sending more than a dozen people to the hospital.
On Saturday night, nearly 20 people were celebrating on a 2nd story deck at a home in
the 100 block of Fantasia Drive in the harmony Woods section.
The deck gave way shortly after 9 pm, dropping the party-goers about ten feet to the
ground.
Reports show 14 people were taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of their
injuries.
Authorities say that three people are in serious condition due to broken legs and
back injuries.
The county building inspector is investigating the structure and its compliance with
building codes.
