Children's museum gets underway
By Jim Hilgen Bookmark and Share

Construction begins on Delaware's first museum to be built solely for children.

Federal, state and local elected officials will be in Wilmington for the groundbreaking of the Delaware Children's Museum.

Dignitaries on hand for the event will include Senator Tom Carper, Governor Jack Markell and Mayor James Baker.

The museum will focus on informal learning through play and the use of math, science and technology themed exhibits.

Officials say the museum will be housed in the former Kahunaville restaurant, and will become an anchor for future development on the riverfront.

The museum's opening date is to be announced at the ceremony Monday morning.
