Medicaid money could close Delaware deficit
By Associated Press Share

The head of Delaware's Medicaid program says the federal stimulus package could provide a $225 million boost to the state.

Harry Hill told lawmakers Wednesday that Delaware could get more than $92 million in Medicaid stimulus money in the current fiscal year, and almost $134 million in the fiscal year starting July 1.

The state received $60 million in Medicaid stimulus money this week for Medicaid expenses dating back to October, an amount that exceeds the current fiscal year deficit of about $56 million.

While revenue forecasters could adjust the deficit number at their meeting later this month, officials said another $32 million

in Medicaid stimulus money may be available to resolve the current fiscal year deficit.
