NCCo drops records fee for council members
By Associated Press Bookmark and Share

New Castle County is dropping a temporary policy of charging council members for county documents.

In February, County Executive Coons' administration put the policy in place after Councilman Bob Weiner requested hundreds of pages of land use records and eventually turned them over to constituents.

On Tuesday, Council President Paul Clark proposed a new rule that would require members to send a formal request through e-mail Each quarter, the administration would then have to provide the council with a report detailing production costs.

The county has a copying fee of 50 cents per page, but Clark's plan would allow members to get records free of charge.
