Martinez, Kendrick lead Phillies over Mets 8-5

Martinez later added a sac fly - 4 RBIs on the day - a career high...as the Phils beat the Mets 8-5.
Kyle Kendrick went 7 innings and only gave up 1 run despite dealing with a lot of base runners to earn the victory. He improves to 5-4...and even singled twice.
Ryan Howard got the scoring started with an RBI single in the 1st.
It's only the first series after the All-Star break, but Howard says the Phils have big plans...

Atlanta also won, so the Phils lead in the NL East remains 3.5.
The Phils move onto Chicago to start a series with the Cubs tonight. Roy Halladay is on the mound for the Phils against Rodrigo Lopez. Pre-game coverage on WDEL begins at 7:30.
