John Porcari watched as workers at the Delaware Car Company on Lombard Street in Wilmington refurbished seven passenger rail cars to complete a contract with North Carolina.

"What the American Jobs Act will do is put many more of their colleagues across America back to work. It's great that this is a company that's never had to lay anyone off, even through hard times. What we'd like to see, and what transportation funding that's adequate for the future will do, is let them hire additional people as well," says Porcari.

Delaware Car Company employs 22 workers, and plans to hire six to eight more over the next year. The Senate will vote this week on the transportation component of the American Jobs Act, which contains 4 billion dollars for high speed rail.
