Carper appeals to Postmaster General
Senate Carper and three other authors of the Senate postal reform legislation have sent the Postmaster General a letter urging him to delay the planned closings of post offices and mail processing facilities scheduled to take place on May 15th.
Carper, along with three other Senators sent the letter asking Postmaster General Patrick Donahue that he extend the moratorium on closings that is set to expire May 15th.
The Senate has passed a bill that would prevent the wholesale closing of regional mail facilities and local post offices but the House has yet to act on the measure.
The Senators have also written to House leaders urging them to act quickly on the bill.
