Everyone's talking about the summer's hottest musical festival that's coming to the Dover International Speedway in July.

WDEL's Amy Cherry got a sneak peek at Firefly.

The Woodlands is typically full of NASCAR-loving RV campers. But July 20th, it will be bombarded by campers of a different kind -- music lovers, 40,000 of them from all over the U.S.

Greg Bostrom is the Director of the Firefly Musical Festival. He tells me why they chose Dover out of hundreds of locations they vetted across the country.

"Dover's the perfect location for Firefly. First of all you see this beautiful venue behind us, we're in close proximity to a lot of people -- Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., New York City," says Bostrom.

Firefly has 87 acres to work with at the Woodlands - that's double the size of the space used for the Coachella music festival and California, but no where near the size of Bonnaroo in Tennessee.

Many attendees can camp right on-site in tents or RVs, but if you can't bear the thought of spending a night in the great outdoors in the sweltering July heat, there will be "glamping," a luxurious hotel room within a tent right on-site.

Firefly is Red Frog Events' first dabble into the music industry. The company is responsible for bringing the Warrior Dash to cities nationwide.

With big name acts like The Black Keys, The Killers, Girl Talk, The Flaming Lips, and Lupe Fiasco, there's a little something for everyone at Firefly.

"We have kind of a rock centric lineup, but we're also representing, R&B and hip hop, electronic, and we're hoping the diverse lineup is something a lot of people will be excited about," says Bostrom.

You can expect up to 10 more acts being added to the Firefly lineup in the coming weeks.

A three-day pass will cost you $200, but Bostrom says don't expect single day passes.

"Right now, the plan is just for three-day passes. It really is viewed as a destination event with over 39 states already represented," says Bostrom.
