DelDOT recognizes Nat'l Work Zone Safety Awareness Week

Nearly two people are killed and 84 people are injured every day in highway work zones.

That's why DelDOT is stressing the importance of National Work Zone Safety Awareness work Awareness Week for both workers and drivers.

"You think about 30,000 people being injured - that's the population of a city like Dover. And it's obviously something that we're very concerned about. In this country, we have an aging system that requires a lot of rehabilitation. A lot of people complain you have two summers

- you have winter, and you have orange cone season, and it takes a lot of investment, and a lot of time, and a lot of attention to get people, to get that system fixed," says State Transportation Secretary Shailen Bhatt.
