Police from across the First State gathered across from Legislative Hall Wednesday to give a roll call of their fallen comrades.

They also paused to remember New Castle County Police Lt. Joseph Szczerba, whose name was added to the state's memorial for police killed in the line of duty.

Szczerba's wife, Kathy, was there.

"I want to personally thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support that I have received over the past few months since my husband Lt. Joe Szczerba's untimely death in September," she said.

Senate President Pro Tem Tony DeLuca also paid respect to those who continue to serve.

"As we honor the fallen officers here today, let us also remember and give thanks for the heroes that are among us. The men and women of Delaware law enforcement and their families who do the job everyday. We are truly blessed to have you," DeLuca said.
