Teach for America Week is celebrated in Delaware with a visit to a Wilmington boys charter school by Governor Markell.

Markell was a guest teacher in a 7th grade pre-algebra class at Prestige Academy in Wilmington. Academy founder Jack Perry says the boys were eager to hear from the governor.

"The governor confessed that he did need to do some homework last night to make sure that he came in prepared, but the guys did a fantastic job, they really enjoyed it. They had some great questions for the governor, from the challenges that he faces to the benefits of the job," Perry said.

Markell co-taught Shenita Baltimore's class. Baltimore, a Princeton graduate, is a second-year Teach for America corps member.

"But for him to be in the classroom with the boys today, it meant a lot. I think it was encouraging and motivating for a lot of them, because I have an incredible, incredible group of young men here, the the sky's the limit if they apply themselves," Baltimore said.
