A state Representative has introduced a bill he says is designed to increase participation in elections.

House Bill 331, sponsored by Talleyville Democrat Dennis E. Williams, would extend permanent absentee voter status to all Delawareans.

Under current law, service members on active duty out of state, people observing religious holidays and the sick or disabled are among those who can vote by absentee ballot.

Williams says his bill, which was introduced Wednesday and assigned to the House Administration Committee, will make it possible for workers who can't get off for Election Day to have their voices heard.
