Kirk Middle School teacher charged with assaulting student
A teacher at Kirk Middle School in Newark is charged with assaulting a student after an incident in a classroom last month.
State Police say Iris Saunders overheard a comment a student made about another teacher back on April 16th and demanded that the boy apologize for what he'd said.
The student refused, and Saunders allegedly flicked his mouth with her finger, slightly injuring him.
The boy went to the school nurse for treatment.
The incident was reported to the school's resource officer April 27th, and Saunders was charged Thursday with assault and disorderly conduct.
