Green was abound both literally and figuratively at the Hanby Elementary and Bush Earl Education Center dedication celebration Thursday night.

The brand new building, which opened its doors to former Brandywood students and Bush preschoolers in January, is the first LEED certified -- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design -- school in Delaware.

Principal of Bush Early Ed Center, Kris Viar, said the new amenities, such as air conditioning, are a thrill to both students and teachers.

"We're just thrilled to be here and have heated floors," said Viar. "And many other lovely things, spacious classrooms, beautiful environment, we know it's eco-friendly, and the kids just love it."

The school takes up the same footprint as its predecessor, Hanby Middle School.
