Boil water advisory in effect in North Wilmington after main break
A precautionary 'boil water' advisory has been issued to United Water customers in North Wilmington after a water-main break early Friday morning.
Company spokesman Tom Hubbard says about nine thousand customers were affected when the 12-inch main broke in the area of Carr Road and North Cliff Drive between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Customers should bring water to a rolling boil for one minute if it's to be used in any form of consumption like cooking, baking, making ice cubes, or brushing teeth. See a full list at United Water's website, unitedwater.com/uwde.
Communities located between I-95 on the east, Route 202 to the west, Naamans Road to the north, and Silverside Road to the south should boil water until further notice, but the company says the advisory should be lifted by Saturday night.
