The Phillies looked to improve their bullpen by recalling right-hander Jake Diekman and left-hander Raul Valdes from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The 25-year-old Diekman has five saves with a 0.59 ERA in 13 appearances, while the 34-year-old Valdez recorded one save with a 3.86 ERA in 11 appearances with the IronPigs.
They also recalled five-year veteran infielder Hector Luna after placing outfielder Laynce
Nix on the DL with a left calf strain and outrighting right-hander Brian Sanches. Also, they moved Justin De Fratus from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL with a right elbow sprain.
Luna has a .274 batting average with 12 RBI and one home run in 29 appearances for Lehigh Valley.
Sanches went 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in three relief appearances for the Phillies.
Diekman, Valdes, and Luna joined the Phillies Friday for the series opener against the San Diego Padres.
After the game, the Phillies made yet another move, selecting the contract of former Orioles' 1st round pick Mike Fontenot from Lehigh Valley. To make that move the team optioned catcher Erik Kratz back to triple-A and Michael Martinez was transferred to 60-day DL.
