State troopers are investigating a crash on Airport Road near New Castle that left two people injured and closed the roadway for about 90 minutes.

A 37-year-old New Castle woman drifted across the center line of Airport Road near East Bellamy Drive at about 3:20 Sunday afternoon, and collided head-on with a dar driven by a 49-year-old man from Bear.

The woman was trapped in the wreckage for about 40 minutes, then taken to Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in serious condition.

The other driver also underwent treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges have not been filed as the investigation continues.
