Driver charged with DUI following crash with utility pole
By Mark Fowser

A woman whose SUV crashed into a utility pole, forcing Salem Church Road to be shut down for hours, faces charges she was driving under the influence of drugs.

State Police say the vehicle left the roadway near Old Baltimore Pike Thursday afternoon at about 4:30, and knocked down the Delmarva Power pole.

The driver, 26-year-old Brandi Bowen of West Chester Pennsylvania, was taken into custody and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and other motor vehicle offenses.
Power company crews were on the scene late into the night making repairs.
