Bill to charge people who lie to crime investigators clears Senate
A state Senator is sponsoring a bill that would subject people who lie to cops to criminal charges.
Smyrna Democrat Bruce Ennis says his experience as a state trooper showed him why the measure is necessary.

If the bill becomes law, lying to investigators during a misdemeanor probe would result in a misdemeanor charge, and lying during a felony investigation would result in a felony charge.
The bill now goes to the House.
