Bullying reporting requirements going to Gov's desk
Updated Friday, May 18, 2012 - 7:43am
Schools will have to meet stepped-up reporting requirements for bullying incidents and investigate them more thoroughly under a bill headed to Governor Markell's desk.
The state Senate Thursday voted 16-3 in favor of the measure sponsored by Newark Democrat Dave Sokola, who says the bill will help schools fight bullying.

The bill requires schools to report bullying incidents to state education officials, investigate whether factors including race, religion or sexual orientation were a factor, and post instructions for reporting incidents to the state Attorney General's office.
Governor Markell has said he supports the measure.
