The 450,000 sq. ft. expansion at Nemours A.I. duPont Hospital is for children and built by children, literally.
"I remember when the architects came, they said draw us your dream hospital," says Caroline Lopez, whose sister spends a lot of time at Nemours.

"They spent one night coloring with us, showing us what colors they enjoyed, what colors were peaceful, brought them joy, and from that we actually came with the natural colors of the blues, and the greens, and the purples," says Kay Holbrook, Nemours Associate Administrator.

Holbrook says the children's input was extremely valuable, and without, they would've made mistakes.
"Our children gave us input that they wanted the TV on the foot wall,. and so we thought it would be close to the bed on a pull down arm, but they really wanted it on the wall, almost like at home in a bedroom," says Holbrook.

The expansion will be complete by 2014.
