The family of a man shot by county police May 10th during a drug investigation plans to file a wrongful death claim.

Erik Turnbull's family gathered in front of the federal courthouse in downtown Wilmington Wednesday morning to say they are not satisfied with the county police investigation.

His mother, Sherrol King, says information from witnesses conflicts with the account from police, and that police didn't give her some information before it was given to the media.

"I was never told that he was stopped for drugs, I was never told that they had informants, I was never told any of that," King said.

Turnbull's sister, Twanna Underdue, says the stories from police don't add up.

"They're making all these extra allegations of ramming a police officer's car, ok, if that's the case, show me the tapes," Underdue said.

Police say they stopped Turnbull at Harbor Club Apartments as a suspect in a drug investigation, and that he drove toward officers before being shot. A county police spokesman says Sherrol King was given the details of the last news release before it was given to the media.
