Prez signs Coons bill re-authorizing bankruptcy judgeships
By Frank Gerace

Senator Chris Coons (D)
A bill introduced by Senator Coons and co-sponsored by Senator Carper to re-authorize temporary bankruptcy judgeships is now law.

President Obama Friday signed the Temporary Bankruptcy Judgeship Extension Act into law, re-authorizing 29 temporary judgeships in 14 states and Puerto Rico until May 2017.

Delaware's bankruptcy judges handle more than one third of the nation's largest business bankruptcy cases, and Coons said in a statement Friday that the new law will help "stave off a grave shortage" of bankruptcy judges.
