VIDEO: Edwards on first time at Dover

Carl Edwards says he is looking forward to another race at the track that "chews up cars and spits them out", Dover International Speedway.

Edwards' has had some of his best success at the "Monster Mile", winning once, and never finishing worse than 18th in 15 starts. He's finished all but 5 of the 6,004 possible laps in those Sprint Cup races.

The relationship didn't start out rosy however. In a media session Friday, Edwards recollected back to 2003, when he drove in the Truck Series for owner Jack Roush, and only lasted 5 of the scheduled 200 miles.

"I went out there and ran the first 20 laps in practice and we were just awesome. I thought 'Man, I've got this place, this isn't so bad.' Then I promptly ran that truck into the front straightaway wall so hard that I broke my ribs."

His warning to new drivers? "Don't get too big of a head at this place because it will get you."

He'll hope to get the field Sunday during the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks.
