Feeley takes command of Delaware Air National Guard unit

Change is on the mind of the new Delaware Air National Guard 166th Airlift Wing commander.

Colonel Michael Feeley is the new commander of the Delaware Air National Guard 166th Airlift Wing after he assumed control during a change of command ceremony at the unit's base in New Castle on Saturday afternoon.

Feeley, a participant in military action during both Iraq wars and operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan says he's looking forward to developing the unit while the military's role is changing nationwide.

While he expects the role of commander to have some difficulties, he says he is ready for the challenge of leading the unit.

Feeley takes over for outgoing commander Colonel Jonathan Groff, who began serving in the role in 2007. He says he's proud of the 166th Airlift Wing and hopes they retain their attention to safety.

The unit was also recognized with an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two explosive ordinance technicians receiving Bronze Star Medals for service in Afghanistan.
