The Adopt-A-Student Program supplies students in need with backpacks, uniforms, other necessities.
Njeri Fortt of Edgmoor has five kids and she says she couldn't survive without the program.
"It was very important, especially the most recent help that we've gotten from them because our house burned. We had a house fire on March 4th and we had to move out, so when I found a new home, we needed everything," says Fortt.

Everything from backpacks to furniture.
Adopt-a-Student is part of the Adopt-A-Family Program that helps more than 45-hundred families a year. Fortt says the program exceeded her expectations, giving so much more than just school supplies.
"Not having clothes when we left to having a full closet," says Fortt.
