By Sean Greene

Indian River's Jamie Jarmon was selected by the Texas Rangers with the 83rd pick in the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday afternoon.

The Rangers used their 2nd round pick on the 6'1" senior who projects to be a centerfielder in professional baseball.

Jarmon quarterbacked the Indians to the Division 2 football championship this fall, earning Delaware Gatorade Player of the Year honors after throwing for 2,022 yards and rushing for another 1,302.

Jarmon signed with 2-time defending college champion South Carolina, and will have to choose between minor league baseball or signing with the Gamecocks.
