| WDEL's Mellany Armstrong reports | Millions of tons of waste carpet will be recycled by a new company in New Castle.
Modular Carpet Recycling cut the ribbon on its new manufacturing facility on Lisa
Drive. MCR says millions of pounds of waste carpet will be turned into pellets of nearly
pure nylon called Renewlon. Frank Hurd, chairman of the Carpet America Recovery Effort,
says there are many uses for it.
MCR got a $603,000 loan from the Delaware Strategic Fund for new manufacturing
equipment at the site. The company expects 30 new jobs will be created over the next
three years. The plant will start operating at the end of June.
