If the results are any indication, Delawareans are doing a better job of buckling up.

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety recently completed a two week campaign where 17 state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies took part in the Click it or Ticket program.

In the 2012 event, 1,041 citations were issued, continuing a trend of fewer citations each year from the programs inception in 2008.

In 2008, more than 2300 tickets were issued for failing to use a seat belt...and each subsequent year the number of tickets dropped until this year, when 1,300 fewer tickets were handed out than in 2008.

The Office of Highway Safety says Delaware's statewide seat belt usage rate is 90 per cent.
