Groups protest Corps' Del River dredge plan

Environmental groups from Delaware and New Jersey are critical of plans by the Army Corps of Engineers to dredge the Delaware River.

Dick Fleming with the Delaware Nature Society says the consequences of deepening the channel from Philadelphia to the ocean have been long known and DNREC set up a blueprint to deal with them.Audio Here

The group Delaware Riverkeeper says contaminated material removed from the bottom of the river in a dredging operation would be dumped at sites in Delaware and New Jersey. The group says the Army Corps of Engineers' and the state of Pennsylvania's efforts to move ahead with dredging without proper approval from Delaware and New Jersey is unconstitutional.
