Phillie Phanatic sued
A Pennsylvania woman is suing the Phillie Phanatic, claiming the portly mascot permanently injured her during an incident at a southern New Jersey hotel two years ago.
The Press of Atlantic City reports that 37-year-old Suzanne Peirce is seeking undisclosed damages in the lawsuit filed Monday in Philadelphia's Court of Common Pleas.
Peirce's suit claims the Phanatic threw her into the pool at an Avalon hotel in July 2010. It states she hit the bottom of the pool's shallow end, causing multiple "severe and permanent injuries" that have become worse over time.
Philadelphia Phillies spokeswoman Bonnie Clark declined comment to the newspaper, citing the pending litigation.
