Wilmington water main break closes part of French Street
By Frank Gerace

A water main break is causing traffic detours and water service problems in part of Wilmington.

City officials say the break in the 102-year-old 24-inch pipe happened around 16th Street between Market and French Wednesday afternoon, temporarily cutting off service for about 22 customers.

As a result, some customers are experiencing low water pressure when they turn on their faucets, and the city has issued a water conservation advisory asking its water customers to conserve water for the next 24 to 48 hours.

French Street is closed to traffic between 14th and 16th until the break is fixed.
